Estate Planning
Our estate planning approach starts with understanding your family's unique circumstances. We can design a plan based on wills or trusts, for families with many assets or just a few. Whether you are a parent with minor children, part of a blended family (with children from previous relationships) or non-traditional family, or have a family member with long-term medical concerns, we can plan for whatever concerns you have about the future.
An effective estate plan considers more than just what happens to your assets and possessions after your death. It can also protect you in the event that you are temporarily or permanently unable to care for yourself, your dependents, or your affairs before your death. Planning for the possibility of incapacity can be a tremendous gift to your loved ones, saving them time, money, and heartache.
Probate
We provide legal support and guidance to executors and beneficiaries, making the complex and time-consuming probate process more efficient and less stressful.
This process may include:
-
Preparing and filing documents to open a probate case
-
Identifying and creating an inventory of the assets in an estate
-
Providing notice to beneficiaries and creditors
-
Paying debts and taxes for the estate
-
Selling estate assets, including real estate
-
Obtaining court orders to distribute assets
Guardianship
If a family member or loved one is unable to manage their personal, financial, or medical affairs, you may be able to ask a court to appoint a legal guardian to manage those affairs. We can help you decide whether filing a petition to appoint a legal guardian is appropriate, and represent you in at every stage in that process.
